We would like to extend a Raider Salute to Chris Allen, Luanne Wedge, and Haley Spencer of Student Employment Services for conducting a special Resume Workshop for students applying to the University of Michigan and the Summer 2015 Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP). On behalf of TRIO/Student Support Services and our students, we want to say thank you!
The TRIO/Student Support Services Program will be starting a new initiative this Winter 2015 and is inviting GRCC faculty to join!
Our Café Connect Program is designed to provide our TRIO students with an opportunity to engage with faculty in a cordial atmosphere outside the classroom. Our students will have access to a gift card that will cover the cost of coffee (or your preferred drink) and a bagel/pastry at the Quiet Café, the Sneden Café, or the Raider Grill – for themselves and for you. The students will come prepared with questions around career, professional, and educational paths!
We’re excited about the opportunity to extend this invitation to faculty to become active partners in sharing their journey with our TRIO/Student Support Services students.
The TRiO Program, Student Support Services and Penni Weninger would like to send a Raider Salute out to Culinary Program Director Dan Gendler, Chef Mike Whitman, Support Professional Marcia Arp and especially our bakery students who provided the delectable goodies for our fundraiser last week. Despite the terrible weather, we were able to raise almost enough to sponsor a year’s tuition at the Power of Education Fund School in Haiti for our sponsored student, Mikerlange Abraham. GRCC WORKS!

A GRCC Scholarship Poster Presentation was held this past Wednesda,y October 22, 2014, for GRCC students who participated in the Summer 2014 MICUP Program at Michigan Technological University, UROP at the University of Michigan, and Study Abroad in Salamanca (Spain) and Morocco.
TRiO Student Support Services and students in the program as well as students from the ABO-Alpha Beta Omega Organization, and Honors Program participated in a campus visit to University of Michigan this past Friday October 24, 2014.
A tour of the campus was provided as well as a visit with specific departments representatives such as the Admissions, Financial Aid, Architecture, Engineering, Kinesiology, and Pharmacy.
