Sommer Jabbar, a former GRCC student, came to speak about her experiences in the program and working to succeed in the field today. We were also honored to have Dr. Pink and Provost Chesley in attendance to see the students honored. Thank you to all who helped make this event a success!

Informational session on higher education graduate degrees today in Main 112

Western Michigan University will be at GRCC today to host an information session regarding their Higher Education master’s and doctorate programs.

This session will be held today, November 2, at 1 p.m. in Main 112.

TRIO Power of Education fundraiser selling donuts and apples through Friday

Education: workbooks, textbooks, a uniform and other necessary supplies will be included. Meals: Nutritious daily meals while will be provided while at school. Future: It will create opportunities beyond the classroom by helping a child in need.”

TRIO SSS is picking up 30 dozen fresh donuts today, October 31, for our annual Power of Education Fundraiser.

Please help GRCC/TRIO students reach their goal of $600 for tuition to sponsor Samuel Duroseau, 6 years old, through the Power of Education Foundation school in Fontamara, Haiti.  100 % of Proceeds will be used directly for sponsorship.

We are accepting Pre-Orders for Wednesday, 10/31, for deliveries for an order of 1 dozen or more donuts or apples.  Call (616) 234-4150 to place your order.  Make sure you provide the contact name of the person who is making the purchase and the location of delivery.  Cash or check made out to the “Power of Education.”  You may also send your order via email to TRIOSSS@grcc.edu.

Michigan Association of Continuing Education and Training Educators visit GRCC

Members of the Michigan Association of Continuing Education and Training Educators are at Grand Rapids Community College today, wrapping up a three-day event that explored best practices and better serving communities.

One of the sessions included a panel discussion from community college presidents from across the state, talking about the state’s Marshall Plan for growing a talented workforce and developing innovative approaches to career training.

The panel included GRCC President Bill Pink, Macomb Community College President James Sawyer IV, Mott Community College President Beverly Walker-Griffea, and Lake Michigan College President Trevor Kubatzke.

Stop by the 4th floor on Tuesday 3/24 to help students from the Child Development/Education department in their efforts to raise awareness for childhood hunger by supporting Kids Food Basket of West Michigan’s “Go Orange” campaign. Decorate a sack supper bag, sport a Kids Food Basket tattoo and tweet a picture of yourself with an “Orange” smile in support of KFB.
