Grand Rapids woman remembered for courage in Dutch resistance

GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Adriana Termaat never considered herself a hero.

… When it seemed as if Keith Termaat might not continue his education at age 20, she introduced him to the dean of Grand Rapids Community College. He went on to earn degrees from the University of Michigan and became an executive at Ford Motor Company.

David Rahinsky named as new chief of GRPD

(WZZM) — The Grand Rapids city manager has appointed a new chief of the Grand Rapids Police Department. The city sent the following news release Friday afternoon:

… He also thanked his Advisory Team, comprised of Tom Almonte, Assistant to the City Manager; Christine Arnold, Director of the Woodrick Diversity Learning Center at Grand Rapids Community College; Johnny Brann, Jr., local restaurant owner; Mari Beth Jelks, Managing Director of Administrative Services at the City of Grand Rapids; Joe Jones, Grand Rapids Urban League President; Ralph Mason, retired Grand Rapids Police Lieutenant; and Catherine Mish, City Attorney.

Important new policy regarding complimentary Health Club memberships

All GRCC employees, retirees, and spouses/children of employee who are GRCC health club members should complete a new health club application by July 31. This is to ensure that our records are accurate and to verify your intent to continue to use your complimentary membership. This will now be required on an annual basis but your access to the health club continues to be at no cost to you! If you will not be on campus during the summer you may want to request a health club application be interofficed to you this week. Anyone who does not return an application by July 31 may lose their locker and locker room access after that date. Call 234-3990 to request an application via interoffice mail or stop by the FFH Courtesy Window to complete a new one.
