Whether you are caring for an aging loved one who can no longer live without your help or for a loved one with Alzheimer’s, GVSU recognizes the challenges that you are facing. Being a caregiver for someone with Alzheimer’s disease or someone who is unable to live independently, is known for placing a great burden on the caregiver. The pressures can be wide-ranging, and touch the social, psychological, physical and economic facets of the caregiver’s life. Get the support that you need by attending the GVSU Caregiver and Alzheimer’s Support Group. This is an advanced class in Excel. Participants must have a working knowledge and feel fairly comfortable in Excel to be prepared for this class. Participants will use Excel to streamline and enhance spreadsheets with templates, charts, graphics and formulas. They will apply usual elements and advanced formulas to a worksheet to display data in various formats. Learning Objectives: manage large workbooks, manage cell and range names, calculate data across worksheets, use specialized functions, analyze data with logical and look up functions, sort or filter worksheet or table data, calculate data in a table or worksheet. For the first time in US history, at least four generations are in the workplace where we live, work and play. As Americans are extending their careers we are seeing a phenomenon. Companies large and small are looking to maximize their work force performance. Because each generation has its own culture, history and life experiences, conflicts and misunderstanding become more frequent. Communication between generations is needed but understanding an individual’s generational tendency and internal messaging is the first step in finding resolution within the multi-generational workforce. Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this course, the learner will: Identify and understand the current generations in the workforce; Understand their historical context, values and beliefs; Know how the different generations approach work, overtime, leisure and family in very different, yet equally valid, manners.
