SICE students tour dairy farm

About 20 Secchia Culinary Institute students were invited by the United Dairy Industry of Michigan for an all-day tour and special lunch featuring Michigan Dairy Products. The tour was of the Crandall Farm near Battle Creek. Crandall is a fifth-generation farm family that is proud to produce fresh, local milk. They learned everything from animal care to dairy nutrition. They traveled in style on a chartered bus with other chefs and doctors of veterinary medicine. The tour was followed by lunch at the Seasonal Grille in Hastings, Michigan, which is owned and operated by a Secchia Chef Graduate, Justin Straube!

Raider Salute to Marcia, Ziad Rango

A Raider Salute from Dan Gendler was prompted by this week’s Restaurant Week kickoff of a “Guess-the-Ingredients” competition at GRCC:

Marcia Rango and SICE graduate and husband Ziad are the two chefs that put together the Restaurant Week tasting plates for the competition. The two of them, along with Jared Funk and Mike Kidder, did a phenomenal job in helping us add more scholarship money to the already huge $75,000 pot!

Thank you!
